NTP Debuts Penta 721s Compact Dante Multiformat Converter and Router Series

NTP Debuts Penta 721s Compact Dante Multiformat Converter and Router Series

Penta 721s 1RU solutions all provide routing, AES, MADI and Dante I/O with either additional Dante capability, SDI embedding/de-embedding I/O or an open option card slot —

Gentofte, Denmark, September 24, 2020 — NTP Technology’s Enterprise-class Penta family of versatile, flexible and feature-packed digital audio multiformat converter/routers has expanded with three new compact models. Developed to bring Penta solutions to specific applications including broadcast and AV Install, the cost-effective 1RU Penta 721s, 721s-DNT and 721s-SDI allow multiple audio formats to co-exist with Dante networks.

All Penta 721s units offer over 400 connection and configuration options, seamlessly bridging AES, MADI and AES67-compliant Dante I/O with an onboard 512 x 512 router. The Penta 721s model has an open slot accommodating any of seven Penta I/O option cards which include additional AES, dual MADI, analog input, analog output, speaker DSP and delay for lip-sync processing modules that can be purchased as best suits a given application. For A/V, the new Crestron Module™ offers associability to routing and volume of all individual channels. NTP Technology’s DAD and Penta hardware is aligned around its DADman software, where control becomes fluid and transparent, including interleaving NTP solutions to expand AVID MTRX and MTRX Studio I/O (both built for AVID by NTP with DADman control) and also providing monitor control and I/O capability to AVID Dock, S1, S4 and S6 consoles, via the EUCON™ 3 protocol.

The Penta 721s-DNT is a Dante-to-Dante converter with onboard sample rate conversion on all inputs, which makes it ideal for connecting individual IP Audio networks that may run on different sample rates and digital clocks. While all 721s models natively include Dante connectivity in the form of a 64-channel Brooklyn II module, the 721s-DNT model is pre-fitted with the Penta 128-channel Dante module, also with onboard sample rate conversion in and out.

The Penta 721s-SDI adds Dual 3G SDI embedding / de-embedding to the package and is ideal for broadcasters with the need for combining SDI signals with Dante, MADI or AES. The SDI side of the model also has built-in sample rate conversion.

“The new Penta 721s models build on the legacy of the modular Penta 720 unit, which has proven its reliability in countless enterprise audio solutions throughout the world,” says Mikael Vest, Sales Director, NTP Technology. “So, we’re obviously excited to now add these new, compact and more cost-effective siblings to the Penta universe of audio-routing and conversion interfaces. We already know that AoIP will increasingly become the backbone of any larger enterprise audio facility, yet older audio formats will remain part of the systems for some time. With Penta 721s and Penta 721s-SDI we’re covering any existing audio format around, while Penta 721s-DNT is ready to engage any Dante/AES67-based system today or in the future.”

The new Penta 721s models, bringing affordable, Enterprise-level multiformat conversion and routing to a broader range of applications where the full flexibility of the Penta 720 is not required, will be available worldwide in October 2020. The Penta 721s has a MAP/MSRP USD price of $2799, with the 721s-DNT priced at $4320 and the 721s-SDI priced at $4620. All NTP products come with a two-year warranty, extended to three years upon product registration.

Hiltron Completes Fully Integrated TVRO Platform Control System for Nilesat

Hiltron Completes Fully Integrated TVRO Platform Control System for Nilesat

Hiltron Communications, a globally active satellite system integrator, manufacturer and distributor, announces the completion of a custom-designed turnkey TVRO satellite platform for Nilesat, one of the largest Middle East telecommunication networks. The new installation is a fully L-band-over-fibre integrated downlink which covers all mediator satellites in the range from 30° west to 100° east, operating in C and Ku bands simultaneously.

"Located at our ground station in Giza, the new downlink gives us the reliability and flexibility we needed for backing up our existing fixed TVRO antennas," says Nilesat Head of Ground Segment Engineer Osama Tantawy. "Incoming signals from all antennas on the new platform, 32 feeds in total, are connected to the master control room via fibre-optic links. Hiltron has produced and integrated a complete solution including its HMCS monitoring and control software. The company worked closely with us from initial design right through to factory acceptance test, onsite installation, commissioning and training. The project was completed successfully and on time thanks to the experience and teamwork of everyone involved."

"We are very pleased to have been chosen to work with Nilesat on this project," adds Hiltron Managing Director Antonio Monteverde. "The infrastructure we have provided includes a 3.7 metre motorised antenna with a Hiltron HMAM motorised mount and Hiltron HACU antenna control unit, RF-over-fibre links from RF Design, plus an LNB power supply and L band switch from ETL."

Hiltron’s HMCS monitoring and control application is designed to control all relevant satellite equipment in a master control room. It allows operators to control equipment from multiple vendors within a unified graphic display. HMCS also provides an SNMP interface to a high-level system. Advanced alarm message handling is included plus the ability to select stored profiles, transponders and slots from a database.

Hiltron's HMAM is a motorised satellite antenna mount designed for two-way satellite communication or receive-only downlink applications. It can be used in a wide range of roles including broadcast and telecommunication downlinks. An optional motorised feed changer allows the head to be moved quickly to a new position for switching between frequency bands. HMAM comes complete with professional-grade drives for azimuth and elevation plus a high-precision polarisation drive. The combined head and drive form a three-axis motorised mount with more than 270 degrees of azimuth adjustment, 90 degrees of elevation adjustment range and fully adjustable polarisation.

Danmon Group UK announces the completion of a UHD video production facility for the London headquarters of Fidelity International. The project was prompted by Fidelity's recent relocation to a new office building at 4 Cannon Street in the centre of the city's financial district.

"As a flagship location, the Cannon Street office needed to be a future-focused space," says Adam Sheldrake, Head of Studios at Fidelity International. "Good communication is essential to our business so we make full use of video media for internal communication, podcasting and participation in finance-related broadcasts. Danmon Group UK has worked very successfully with us in projects at our previous London headquarters as well as designing and equipping studios at our Hong Kong offices. I have always been happy with what they have provided and how they have supported us. They responded to a proposal based on our initial specification but, because of their experience in past projects for us, were able to suggest a more cost-effective approach which also provided more functionality and included kit of superior specification. The result meets our highest expectations."

"We have designed, integrated and configured a full TV studio and production control gallery plus a podcast studio with its dedicated control room, edit suites and a green room," adds Danmon Group UK Managing Director Russell Peirson-Hagger.
